Caring for Dry Winter Skin

Winter cold, wind and snow leads to dry, scaly winter skin. Add some dry indoor heat and your skin can feel uncomfortably rough and itchy. Areas on the body that typically experience winter itch are the sides of the torso and back. For anyone susceptible to breakouts your skin can also over produce oil because of the lack of moisture.

How do you get rid of that flaky surface layer? Start by using an exfoliating body wash, such as Institut' DERMed Enhancing Gylcolic Body Wash 1 to 2 times a week in the shower to gently exfoliate away those dull, dead skin cells.  Formulated with Shea Butter and Glycolic Acid, this all over body wash will soften rough dry areas. Best of all it's formulated without: parabens, mineral oil, sodium lauryl sulfates, phthalates, artificial dyes or synthetic fragrances.  Starting your hydration process in the shower with products that cleanse and exfoliate will help your skin be ultimately more receptive to your moisturizer.

Next keep your skin healthy by preventing moisture loss. Protect your skin's moisture barrier by using a daily lotion or cream that contains key ingredients such as Shea Butter and Lactic Acid to soften rough dry areas and create smooth skin.  Your skin will feel better and look better.

Items to add to your facial winter must-haves: Institut' DERMed Enhancing Micro Crystal Polish. Use on your face 1 to 2 times a week to gently exfoliate away those dull, dead skin cells. This scrub is formulated with Diamond Corundum Crystals and Jojoba Beads. Follow with a hydrating serum. We recommend the antioxidant peptide serum to help retain hydration and natural moisture and visibly revive your skin. For exceptional results add a moisture mask once a week. Masks are very beneficial during the dry winter months. Choose one rich in antioxidants such as the Institut' DERMed Renewing Mask containing Calamine - to soothe dry, irritated skin conditions and revitalize dehydrated skin.
